✧ From Sa'id b. Jubayr: "{And if it had not been for the favor of Allah upon you and His mercy in this world and the Hereafter} In it there is an inversion; He says: {If it had not been for the favor of Allah upon you and His mercy in this world and the Hereafter, a great punishment would have touched you} meaning 'would have befallen you' {for what you plunged into} meaning 'for what you said concerning the slander.' {A great punishment} 'the punishment would have befallen you in this world and the Hereafter.'"
