✧ Translation: Interpretation of His saying, "If only you had heard it" (the verse)

حَدَّثَنَا دَاوُدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ صَالِحٍ الْمَرْوَزِيُّ ثنا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ النَّرْسِيُّ ثنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ قَالَ ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي عَرُوبَةَ

عَنْ قَتَادَةَ فِي قَوْلِهِ {وَلَوْلَا فَضْلُ اللهِ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَتُهُ لَمَسَّكُمْ فِيمَا أَفَضْتُمْ فِيهِ عَذَابٌ عَظِيمٌ} قَالَ «هَذَا فِي شَأْنِ عَائِشَةَ ؓ وَفِيمَا قِيلَ كَادَ أَصْحَابُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ أَنْ يُهْلَكُوا فِيهِ»

✧ From Qatadah regarding His saying: {And if it had not been for the favor of Allah upon you and His mercy, a great punishment would have touched you for what you plunged into.} He said: "This is concerning the affair of Aisha ؓ and what was said; the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ almost perished because of it."
