حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ الْفِرْيَابِيُّ أَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ بْنِ وَائِلٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ

أَنَّ امْرَأَةً خَرَجَتْ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ تُرِيدُ الصَّلَاةَ فَلَقِيَهَا رَجُلٌ فَقَضَى حَاجَتَهُ مِنْهَا فَصَاحَتْ فَانْطَلَقَ فَمَرَّ عَلَيْهَا رَجُلٌ فَقَالَتْ إِنَّ ذَاكَ الرَّجُلَ فَعَلَ بِي كَذَا وَكَذَا فَانْطَلَقُوا فَأَخَذُوا الرَّجُلَ الَّذِي ظَنَّتْ أَنَّهُ وَقَعَ عَلَيْهَا فَقَالُوا هَذَا فَقَالَتْ نَعَمْ هُوَ هَذَا فَأَتَوْا بِهِ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَلَمَّا أَمَرَ بِهِ أَنْ يُرْجَمَ قَامَ صَاحِبُهَا الَّذِي وَقَعَ عَلَيْهَا قَالَ أَنَا صَاحِبُهَا قَالَ «ادْنُ مِنِّي فَقَدْ غَفَرَ اللهُ لَكَ» وَقَالَ لِلرَّجُلِ الْآخَرِ قَوْلًا حَسَنًا فَقَالُوا لَهُ فِي الرَّجُلِ الَّذِي وَقَعَ عَلَيْهَا أَتَرْجُمُهُ؟ فَقَالَ «لَقَدْ تَابَ تَوْبَةً لَوْ تَابَهَا أَهْلُ الْمَدِينَةِ قُبِلَ مِنْهُمْ»

✧ A woman went out in the time of the Messenger of God ﷺ intending to pray, and a man met her and had his way with her. She screamed, and he fled. Then a man passed by her, and she said, “That man did such-and-such to me.” So they went and seized the man whom she thought had fallen upon her. They said, “Is this the one?” She said, “Yes, it is he.” They brought him to the Prophet ﷺ, and when he ordered that he be stoned, the one who had actually fallen upon her stood up and said, “I am her companion.” He said, “Come near to me, for God has forgiven you,” and he spoke kindly to the other man. They said to him about the man who had fallen upon her, “Will you stone him?” He said, “He has repented with such a repentance that if the people of Madinah were to repent with it, it would be accepted from them.”
