حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُسْلِمٍ الْكَشِّيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ رَجَاءٍ أَنَا حَرْبُ بْنُ شَدَّادٍ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْقُرَشِيُّ حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ عَتِيكٍ أَنَّ أَبَاهُ حَدَّثَهُ
وَكَانَ أَبُوهُ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «مِنَ الْغَيْرَةِ مَا يُحِبُّ اللهُ وَمِنْهَا مَا يُبْغِضُ اللهُ وَمِنَ الْخُيَلَاءِ مَا يُحِبُّ اللهُ وَمِنْهَا مَا يُبْغِضُ اللهُ فَأَمَّا الْغَيْرَةُ الَّتِي يُحِبُّ اللهُ الْغَيْرَةُ فِي الرِّيبَةِ وَالْغَيْرَةُ الَّتِي يُبْغِضُ اللهُ الْغَيْرَةُ فِي غَيْرِ رِيبَةٍ وَالْخُيَلَاءُ الَّتِي يُحِبُّ اللهُ اخْتِيَالُ الرَّجُلِ بِنَفْسِهِ لِلَّهِ عِنْدَ الْقِتَالِ وَالْخُيَلَاءُ الَّتِي يُبْغِضُ اللهُ الْخُيَلَاءُ فِي الْبَغْيِ أَوْ فِي الْفُجُورِ»

✧ And his father was among the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Of jealousy, there is what Allah loves and of it what Allah hates; and of pride, there is what Allah loves and of it what Allah hates. As for the jealousy that Allah loves, it is jealousy in suspicion; and the jealousy that Allah hates is jealousy without suspicion. And the pride that Allah loves is a man’s showing off of himself for Allah at the time of battle; and the pride that Allah hates is pride in wrongdoing or in wickedness.”
