حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثنا مُسْلِمُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ثنا أَبَانُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ ابْنِ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَتِيكٍ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَتِيك

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كَانَ يَقُولُ «مِنَ الْغَيْرَةِ مَا يُحِبُّ اللهُ وَمِنَ الْغَيْرَةِ مَا يُبْغِضُ اللهُ فَأَمَّا الْغَيْرَةُ الَّتِي يُحِبُّهَا اللهُ فَالْغَيْرَةُ فِي الرِّيبَةِ وَأَمَّا الْغَيْرَةُ الَّتِي يُبْغِضُهَا اللهُ فَالْغَيْرَةُ فِي غَيْرِ رِيبَةٍ وَإِنَّ مِنَ الْخُيَلَاءِ مَا يُحِبُّ اللهُ وَمِنْهَا مَا يُبْغِضُ اللهُ فَأَمَّا الْخُيَلَاءُ الَّتِي يُحِبُّ اللهُ فَاخْتِيَالُ الرَّجُلِ نَفْسَهُ عِنْدَ الصَّدَقَةِ وَالْقِتَالِ وَأَمَّا الْخُيَلَاءُ الَّتِي يُبْغِضُ اللهُ فَاخْتِيَالُهُ فِي الْبَغْيِ وَالْفُجُورِ»

✧ That the Prophet ﷺ used to say: “Part of jealousy is loved by Allah and part of it is hated by Allah. The jealousy Allah loves is jealousy in suspicion; the jealousy Allah hates is jealousy without suspicion. And part of pride is loved by Allah and part of it is hated by Allah. The pride Allah loves is a man’s pride in himself at the time of charity and fighting; the pride Allah hates is his pride in wrongdoing and immorality.”
