✧ The Prophet ﷺ was delayed from the dawn prayer with us until the sun was almost upon us. Then he came out and prayed with us, and he made his prayer brief. Then he turned away and faced us and said, 'Stay in your places. Let me inform you what delayed me from you today in this prayer. In this night of mine I prayed as much as God willed, then sleep overcame my eyes and I slept. I saw my Lord, exalted is He, in the best and most beautiful form. He said, "O Muhammad." I said, "At Your service, O Lord." He said, "What does the highest assembly dispute about?" I said, "I do not know, O Lord." Then He said, "O Muhammad." I said, "At Your service, O Lord." He said, "What does the highest assembly dispute about?" I said, "I do not know." He placed His palm between my shoulders, and I felt the coolness of His fingertips between my breasts, and I came to know everything and perceived it. Then He said, "O Muhammad." I said, "At Your service, O Lord." He said, "What does the highest assembly dispute about?" I said, "About expiations." He said, "What are they?" I said, "Walking on foot to the Friday prayers, completing ablution in the cold, and degrees." He said, "What are those?" I said, "Feeding food, gentle speech, and praying at night while people sleep." He said, "Ask." I said, "O God, I ask You for good deeds, abandonment of evil acts, love of the poor, and that You forgive me and have mercy on me. When You intend a trial among Your creation, save me to You without being tried. I ask You for Your love, the love of those who love You, and the love of an action that brings me near to Your love."'
