حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ثنا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ ثنا صَفْوَانُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو عَنْ رَاشِدِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ حُمَيْدٍ عَنْ مُعَاذِ بْنِ جَبَلٍ
أَنَّهُ لَمَّا بَعَثَهُ إِلَى الْيَمَنِ خَرَجَ مَعَهُ يُوصِيهِ وَمُعَاذٌ رَاكِبٌ وَرَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَمْشِي تَحْتَ رَاحِلَتِهِ فَلَمَّا فَرَغَ قَالَ «يَا مُعَاذُ إِنَّكَ عَسَى أَنْ لَا تَلْقَانِي بَعْدَ عَامِي وَلَعَلَّكَ أَنَّ تَمُرَّ بِمَسْجِدِي وَقَبْرِي» فَبَكَى مُعَاذُ بْنُ جَبَلٍ جَزَعًا لِفِرَاقِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «لَا تَبْكِ يَا مُعَاذُ فَإِنَّ الْبُكَاءَ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ»

✧ That when he sent him to Yemen, he went out with him advising him, while Mu‘adh was riding and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was walking beneath his mount. When he finished, he said: “O Mu‘adh, it may be that you will not meet me after this year of mine, and perhaps you will pass by my mosque and my grave.” Mu‘adh b. Jabal wept out of grief at the separation from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. The Prophet ﷺ said to him: “Do not weep, O Mu‘adh, for weeping is from Satan.”
