حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الصَّائِغُ الْمَكِّيُّ وَخَلَفُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الْعُكْبَرِيُّ قَالَا ثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ ثَنَا حَفْصُ بْنُ مَيْسَرَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ حَرْمَلَةَ عَنْ عَدِيٍّ الْجُذَامِيِّ
أَنَّهُ لَقِيَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فِي بَعْضِ أَسْفَارِهِ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ كَانَتْ لِيَ امْرَأَتَانِ فَاقْتَتَلَتَا فَرَمَيْتُ إِحْدَاهُمَا فَقَتَلْتُهَا فَقَالَ «اعْقِلْهَا وَلَا تَرِثْها» فَكَأَنِّي أنْظُرُ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ عَلَى نَاقَةٍ حَمْرَاءَ جَدْعَاءَ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ «يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ تَعَلَّمُوا فَإِنَّمَا الْأَيْدِي ثَلَاثَةٌ فَيَدُ اللهِ الْعُلْيَا وَيَدُ الْمُعْطِي الْوُسْطَى وَيَدُ الْمُعْطَى السُّفْلَى فَتَعَفَّفُوا وَلَوْ بِحُزَمِ الْحَطَبِ أَلَا هَلْ بَلَّغْتُ أَلَا هَلْ بَلَّغْتُ»

✧ He met the Messenger of God ﷺ during one of his journeys and said, “O Messenger of God, I had two wives who fought with each other, so I threw something at one of them and killed her.” He said, “Pay her blood money, and do not inherit from her.” It is as if I can see the Messenger of God ﷺ on a red camel with a cut ear, saying: “O people, learn! The hands are three: the hand of God is the highest, the hand of the giver is the middle, and the hand of the one given is the lowest. So be chaste, even if it be with bundles of firewood. Have I conveyed? Have I conveyed?”
