حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثَنَا صَالِحُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ التِّرْمِذِيُّ ثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ زَكَرِيَّا بْنِ أَبِي زَائِدَةَ حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي الْقَاسِمِ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ
خَرَجَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ بَنِي سَهْمٍ مَعَ تَمِيمٍ الدَّارِيِّ وَعَدِيِّ بْنِ بَدَّاءٍ فَمَاتَ السَّهْمِيُّ فَلَمَّا قَدِمَا بتَرِكَتِهِ فَقَدُوا جَامًا مِنْ فِضَّةٍ مُخَوَّصًا بِذَهَبٍ فَأَحْلَفَهُمَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ ثُمّ وُجِدَ فَقَالُوا شَرَيْنَاهُ مِنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ تَمِيمٍ فَقَامَ رَجُلَانِ مِنْ أَوْلِيَاءِ السَّهْمِيِّ فَحَلَفَا بِاللهِ لَشَهَادَتُنَا أَحَقُّ مِنْ شَهَادَتِهِمَا وَأَنَّ الْجَامَ لِصَاحِبِكُمْ وَفِيهِمْ أُنْزِلَتْ {يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا شَهَادَةُ بَيْنِكُمْ}

✧ A man from Banu Sahm went out with Tamim al-Dari and ʿAdi b. Baddaʾ, and the Sahmi died. When they brought his inheritance, they missed a silver bowl inlaid with gold, so the Messenger of God ﷺ made them swear an oath. Then it was found, and they said, “We bought it from ʿAdi b. Tamim.” Two men from the heirs of the Sahmi stood up and swore by God, “Our testimony is more worthy than their testimony, and the bowl belongs to your companion.” Concerning them was revealed: {O you who believe, testimony among you...}
