حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ثنا مُسَدَّدٌ ثنا عَبْدُ الْوَارِثِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ عَامِرٍ الْأَحْوَلِ عَنْ بَكْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْمُزَنِيِّ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ
أَرَادَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ الْحَجَّ فَقَالَتِ امْرَأَةٌ لِزَوْجِهَا أَحْجِجْنِي مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ لَهَا مَا عِنْدِي مَا أُحِجُّكِ بِهِ عَلَيْهِ قَالَتْ أَحْجِجْنِي عَلَى جَمَلِكَ فُلَانٍ فَقَالَ ذَاكَ حَبِيسٌ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ قَالَتْ أَحْجِجْنِي عَلَى نَاضِحِكَ قَالَ ذَاكَ نَعْتَقِبُهُ أَنَا وَأَنْتِ قَالَتْ فَبِعْ ثَمَرَتَكَ قَالَ ذَاكَ قُوتِي وَقُوتُكِ فَلَمَّا قَدِمَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَرْسَلَتْ زَوْجَهَا إِلَيْهِ فَقَالَتْ أَقْرئْهُ السَّلَامَ وَرَحْمَةَ اللهِ وَسَلْهُ مَا يَعْدِلُ حَجَّةً مَعَكَ فَأَتَى رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ امْرَأَتِي تَقْرَأُ عَلَيْكَ السَّلَامَ وَرَحْمَةَ اللهِ وَإِنَّهَا كَانَتْ سَأَلَتْنِي الْحَجَّ مَعَكَ فَقُلْتُ مَا عِنْدِي مَا أُحِجُّكِ عَلَيْهِ فَقَالَتْ أَحْجِجْنِي عَلَى جَمَلِكَ فُلَانٍ فَقُلْتُ ذَاكَ حَبِيسٌ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ قَالَ أَمَا إِنَّكَ لَوْ أَحْجَجْتَهَا عَلَيْهِ كَانَتْ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ قَالَتْ فَأَحْجِجْنِي عَلَى نَاضِحِكَ فَقُلْتُ ذَاكَ نَعْتَقِبُهُ أَنَا وَأَنْتِ قَالَتْ فَبِعْ ثَمَرَتَكَ قُلْتُ ذَاكَ قُوتِي وَقُوتُكِ فَضَحِكَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مِنْ حِرْصِهَا عَلَى الْحَجِّ قَالَ فَإِنَّهَا أَمَرَتْنِي أَنْ أَسْأَلَكَ مَا يُجْزِيُ حَجَّةً مَعَكَ؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَقْرِئْهَا السَّلَامَ وَرَحْمَةَ اللهِ وَأَخْبِرْهَا أَنَّهُ يَعْدِلُ حَجَّةً مَعِي عُمْرَةٌ فِي رَمَضَانَ

✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ intended to perform Hajj. A woman said to her husband: "Take me on Hajj with the Messenger of God ﷺ." He said to her: "I do not have anything on which to take you on Hajj." She said: "Take me on Hajj on your camel so-and-so." He said: "That is dedicated to the cause of God." She said: "Take me on Hajj on your water-carrying camel." He said: "That one you and I use alternately." She said: "Then sell your dates." He said: "That is my food and yours." When the Messenger of God ﷺ arrived, the woman sent her husband to him and said: "Convey to him my greeting of peace and God's mercy, and ask him what equals a Hajj with you." He went to the Messenger of God ﷺ and said: "O Messenger of God, my wife conveys to you the greeting of peace and God's mercy. She had asked me to take her on Hajj with you, and I said: I do not have anything on which to take you on Hajj. She said: Take me on Hajj on your camel so-and-so. I said: That is dedicated to the cause of God." The Prophet ﷺ said: "If you had taken her on Hajj on it, it would have been in the cause of God." He continued: "She said: Take me on Hajj on your water-carrying camel. I said: That one you and I use alternately. She said: Then sell your dates. I said: That is my food and yours." The Messenger of God ﷺ laughed at her eagerness for Hajj. He said: "She instructed me to ask you what suffices as a Hajj with you." The Messenger of God ﷺ said: "Convey to her the greeting of peace and God's mercy, and tell her that an ʿumra in Ramadan equals a Hajj with me."
