حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عُمَرَ الضَّرِيرُ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ الْأُمَوِيُّ ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ يُونُسَ ثنا أَبُو شِهَابٍ عَنْ وَرْقَاءَ عَنْ نَهْشَلِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنِ الضَّحَّاكِ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ
كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا بَعَثَ سَرِيَّةً فَغَنِمُوا خَمَّسَ الْغَنِيمَةَ فَضَرَبَ ذَلِكَ الْخُمُسَ فِي خَمْسَةٍ ثُمَّ قَرَأَ {وَاعْلَمُوا أَنَّمَا غَنِمْتُمْ مِنْ شَيْءٍ فَأَنَّ لِلَّهِ خُمُسَهُ} إِلَى قَوْلِهِ {لِلَّهِ} مِفْتَاحِ كَلَامٍ {لِلَّهِ مَا فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ} فَجَعَلَ سَهْمَ اللهِ وَسَهْمَ الرَّسُولِ وَاحِدًا {وَلِذِي الْقُرْبَى} فَجَعَلَ هَذَيْنِ السَّهْمَيْنِ قُوَّةً فِي الْخَيْلِ وَالسِّلَاحِ وَجَعَلَ سَهْمَ الْيَتَامَى وَالْمَسَاكِينِ وَابْنِ السَّبِيلِ إِلَّا يُعْطِيهِ غَيْرَهَمْ وَجَعَلَ الْأَرْبَعَةَ الْأَسْهُمَ الْبَاقِيَةَ لِلْفَرَسِ سَهْمَيْنِ وَلِرَاكِبِهِ سَهْمٌ وَلِلرَّاجِلِ سَهْمٌ

✧ When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent out a raiding party and they gained spoils, he would divide the spoils into fifths, then strike that fifth into five parts. Then he recited: {And know that whatever you gain as spoils, for Allah is one fifth of it} up to His saying {for Allah} — the key of the statement — {To Allah belongs whatever is in the heavens and the earth}. He made the share of Allah and the share of the Messenger one. {And to the near relatives} — he made these two shares a source of strength in horses and weapons. He made the share of the orphans, the needy, and the wayfarer such that he would not give it to anyone else. He made the remaining four shares: for a horse two shares, for its rider one share, and for a foot soldier one share.
