فِي قَوْلِهِ {§لَا تَقُولُوا رَاعِنَا} قَالَ كَانُوا يَقُولُونَ لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ ارْعَنَا سَمْعَكَ وَإِنَّمَا رَاعِنَا كَقَوْلِكِ عَاطِنَا {وَاسْمَعْ غَيْرَ مُسْمَعٍ} لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ يَقُولُونَ لَا سَمِعْتَ وَاسْمَعْ لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ لَا سَمِعْتَ قَالَ {وَلَوْ أَنَّهُمْ قَالُوا سَمِعْنَا وَأَطَعْنَا وَاسْمَعْ وَانْظُرْنَا لَكَانَ خَيْرًا لَهُمْ}

✧ Regarding His statement {Do not say “ra’ina”}, he said: “They used to say to the Prophet ﷺ ‘attend to us, let us hear you,’ but ‘ra’ina’ is like your saying ‘give us.’ {And listen without being made to hear} — for the Prophet ﷺ — he said: “They say, ‘May you not hear.’ And ‘listen’ — for the Prophet ﷺ — ‘may you not hear.’ He said: {And if they had said, ‘We hear and obey’ and ‘listen and consider us,’ it would have been better for them.}”
