✧ A blind man had a slave woman who was the mother of his child. She used to revile the Prophet ﷺ and speak much against him. He would forbid her but she would not stop, and he would rebuke her but she would not be deterred. One night she mentioned the Prophet ﷺ and he could not endure it, so he got up to the dagger, placed it in her belly, then leaned on it until he killed her. In the morning her two children were between her legs, smeared with blood. This was mentioned to the Prophet ﷺ, so he stood and gathered the people, then said, “I adjure by Allah: a man who has a right upon me and did what he did, let him stand.” The blind man came forward wailing and said, “By Allah, O Prophet of Allah, I am the one who did it. She was the mother of my child, and I had from her two sons like pearls. She was indeed a gentle, kind companion to me, but she used to mention you and revile you. I would forbid her but she would not stop, and I would rebuke her but she would not be deterred. Last night she mentioned you and attacked you, and I could not endure it, so I got up to the dagger, placed it in her belly, then leaned on it until I killed her.” The Prophet ﷺ said, “I bear witness that her blood is wasted.”
