حَدَّثَنَا زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ يَحْيَى السَّاجِيُّ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ثنا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عُمَرَ ثنا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ مُرَّةَ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ
كَانَ الْعَبَّاسُ يَسِيرُ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ عَلَى بَعِيرٍ قَدْ وَسَمَهُ فِي وَجْهِهِ بِالنَّارِ فَقَالَ «مَا هَذَا الْمِيسَمُ يَا عَبَّاسُ؟» قَالَ مِيسَمٌ كُنَّا نَسِمُهُ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ فَقَالَ «لَا تَسِمُوا بِالْحَريقِ»

✧ Al-ʿAbbās was traveling with the Prophet ﷺ on a camel that he had branded on its face with fire. He said, “What is this brand, O ʿAbbās?” He said, “A brand we used to apply in the pre-Islamic era.” He said, “Do not brand with fire.”
