✧ "I see that you have been made forbidden to me, so go to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ; perhaps you may seek something to return you to me." So she went, and he sat waiting for her at the edge of the well. She came to the Prophet ﷺ while a hairdresser was combing his head. She said: "O Messenger of Allah, Aws b. al-Samit, as you know, is weak in judgment and unable, and he has declared zihar from me, O Messenger of Allah ﷺ. The most deserving of being shown kindness for good, if it were I, or to show kindness for good, if it were him, is he. He has declared zihar from me, O Messenger of Allah, so seek something to return me to him, may my father and mother be your ransom." He said: "O Khuwaylah, we have not been commanded anything regarding your matter, and if we are commanded, I will inform you." While his hairdresser had finished one side of his head and started the other, Allah, may He be glorified, revealed, and when revelation came upon him his face would turn dark until he felt its coolness, and when it was lifted his face returned white like a heart. Then he spoke with what he was commanded. The hairdresser said to her: "O Khuwaylah, I think it is now about your matter." She was seized by a shiver; a trembling overcame her, then she said: "O Allah, I seek refuge with You from anything being sent down about me except good, for I sought from Your Messenger only good." When it was lifted from him, he said: "O Khuwaylah, Allah has revealed about you and your husband: {Allah has heard the words of the woman who argues with you concerning her husband} up to His words {then return to what they said, then freeing a slave before they touch each other}." She said: "O Messenger of Allah, by Allah, he has no servant other than me, and I have no servant other than him." He said: {And whoever does not find, then fasting two consecutive months}. She said: "By Allah, if he does not eat twice a day his sight dims." He said: {And whoever is unable, then feeding sixty poor people}. She said: "By Allah, we have nothing in a day except an uqiyyah." He said: "Then tell him to go to so-and-so and take from him half a wasq of dates and give it in charity to sixty poor people and take you back." She said: "So I came, and when he saw me he said: 'What is with you?' I said: 'Good, and you are blameworthy. You have been commanded to go to so-and-so and take from him half a wasq of dates and give it in charity to sixty poor people and take me back.' So he went running until he brought it." She said: "And I knew him before that as unable to carry on his back five sa's due to weakness."
