حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثنا عَارِمٌ أَبُو النُّعْمَانِ ثنا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ حَدَّثَنَا مُجَالِدُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ عُمَيْرِ بْنِ زَوْدِيٍّ قَالَ

خَطَبَ عَلِيٌّ ؓ النَّاسَ فَقَالَ يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّهُ وَاللهِ لَئِنْ لَمْ يَدْخُلِ النَّارَ إِلَّا مَنْ قَتَلَ عُثْمَانَ لَا أَدْخَلُهَا وَلَئِنْ لَمْ يَدْخُلِ الْجَنَّةَ إِلَّا مَنْ قَتَلَ عُثْمَانَ لَا أَدْخَلُهَا قَالَ فَلَمَّا نَزَلَ قِيلَ لَهُ تَكَلَّمْتَ بِكَلِمَةٍ فَرَّقْتَ عَلَيْكَ بِهَا أَصْحَابَكَ فَخَطَبَهُمْ فَقَالَ «يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ أَلَا إِنَّ اللهَ ﷻ قَتَلَ عُثْمَانَ وَأَنَا مَعَهُ» قَالَ حَمَّادٌ وَحَدَّثَنَا حَبِيبُ بْنُ الشَّهِيدِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ قَالَ كَلِمَةٌ قُرَشِيَّةٌ لَهَا وَجْهَانِ قَالَ أَبُو الْقَاسِمِ كَأَنَّهُ يَعْنِي «أَنَّ اللهَ تَعَالَى قَتَلَهُ وَأَنَا مَعَهُ مَقْتُولٌ ؓ»

✧ Ali ؓ addressed the people and said: O people, by Allah, if no one enters the Fire except those who killed Uthman, I will not enter it; and if no one enters Paradise except those who killed Uthman, I will not enter it. When he came down, it was said to him: You have spoken a word that has divided your companions against you. So he addressed them and said: "O people, indeed Allah ﷻ caused Uthman to be killed, and I am with him." Hammad said: And Habib b. al-Shahid narrated to us from Muhammad b. Sirin: A Qurayshi expression that has two meanings. Abu al-Qasim said: It is as if he meant, "Allah, exalted is He, caused him to be killed, and I too will be killed with him ؓ."
