✧ One day the Messenger of God ﷺ had removed his garment from his thigh. Abu Bakr came seeking permission, and he granted him permission while the Prophet ﷺ was in that state. Then Umar came seeking permission, and he granted him permission while the Prophet ﷺ was in that state. Then Uthman came, and the Messenger of God ﷺ took his garment and wrapped it around himself. They spoke, then left. I said: "O Messenger of God, Abu Bakr and Umar and some of your companions came while you were in that state, but when Uthman came you wrapped your garment around yourself?" He said: "Should I not be shy before one before whom the angels are shy?"
