✧ A man from al-Bahrayn came to the Messenger of God ﷺ and he did not return his greeting. He had a ring of gold on his hand and a silk jubbah on him. The man left sorrowful, and complained of that to his wife. She said to him: 'Perhaps the Messenger of God ﷺ disliked your jubbah and your ring, so throw them away.' He threw them away, then went early to the Messenger of God ﷺ, and he returned his greeting. He said: 'O Messenger of God, I came to you just now and you turned away from me?' He said: 'Indeed, there was in your hand an ember from the Fire.' He said: 'Then I have come with many embers.' He said: 'Indeed, what you came with is no more availing to you than the stones of the harrah, but it is the enjoyment of the life of this world.' He said: 'Then with what should I wear a ring?' He said: 'A band of silver, or iron, or brass.'
