وَبِهِ: حَدَّثَنِي اللَّيْثُ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْحَارِثِ، عَنْ بَكْرِ بْنِ سَوَادَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي النَّجِيبِ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ قَالَ:

تَذَاكَرْنَا الْبَصَلَ وَالْكُرَّاثَ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ، فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ: ثَمَّ مَا هُوَ شَرٌّ مِنْهُ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: " وَمَا هُوَ ؟ " قَالَ: الثُّومُ، أَفَتُحَرِّمُهُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ؟ قَالَ: " لَا، وَمَنْ أَكَلَهُ فَلَا يَقْرَبِ الْمَسْجِدَ، حَتَّى تَذْهَبَ رَائِحَتُهُ

Translation

✧ We mentioned onions and leeks in the presence of the Messenger of God ﷺ, and a man said: 'There, what is worse than it.' The Messenger of God ﷺ said: 'And what is that?' He said: 'Garlic. Would you forbid it, O Messenger of God?' He said: 'No, but whoever eats it should not approach the mosque until its smell goes away.'
