حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ زَكَرِيَّا، نَا الْأَزْرَقُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، نَا حَسَّانُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، نَا يُونُسُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ:
أَنَّهُ كَانَ ابْنَ عَشْرِ سِنِينَ حِينَ قَدِمَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ الْمَدِينَةَ قَالَ: " وَكَانَ أُمَّهَاتِي تُوَاظِبْنَنِي عَلَى خِدْمَةِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ ". قَالَ: " فَخَدَمْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ عَشْرًا؛ حَيَاتَهُ بِالْمَدِينَةِ، تُوُفِّيَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَأَنَا ابْنُ عِشْرِينَ سَنَةً ". قَالَ: " وَكُنْتُ أَعْلَمَ النَّاسِ بِشَأْنِ الْحِجَابِ حِينَ أُنْزِلَ "، لَقَدْ كَانَ أُبَيُّ بْنُ كَعْبٍ يَسْأَلُنِي عَنْهُ قَالَ: " فَكَانَ أَوَّلُ مَا أُنْزِلَ فِي مُبْتَنَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ بِزَيْنَبَ بِنْتِ جَحْشٍ أَصْبَحَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِهَا عَرُوسًا، فَدَعَا الْقَوْمَ فَأَصَابُوا مِنَ الطَّعَامِ، ثُمَّ خَرَجُوا وَبَقِيَ مِنْهُمْ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ، فَأَطَالُوا الْمُكْثَ، فَقَامَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ، فَخَرَجَ، وَخَرَجْتُ مَعَهُ لِكَيْ يَخْرُجُوا، فَمَشَى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَمَشَيْتُ مَعَهُ، حَتَّى جَاءَ عَتَبَةَ حُجْرَةِ عَائِشَةَ، ثُمَّ نَظَرَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِلَيْهِمْ أَقَدْ خَرَجُوا ؟ فَرَجَعَ وَرَجَعْتُ مَعَهُ حَتَّى دَخَلَ عَلَى زَيْنَبَ، فَإِذَا هُمْ قَدْ خَرَجُوا، فَضُرِبَ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَهُمْ، وَأُنْزِلَتْ آيَةُ الْحِجَابِ

✧ He was ten years old when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to Madinah. He said: 'My mothers used to urge me to serve the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.' He said: 'So I served the Messenger of Allah ﷺ for ten years; his life in Madinah. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ died when I was twenty years old.' He said: 'I was the most knowledgeable of people about the matter of the hijab when it was revealed.' Ubayy b. Ka'b used to ask me about it. He said: 'The first thing revealed regarding the Messenger of Allah's ﷺ marriage to Zaynab bt. Jahsh was that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ became a bridegroom with her. He invited the people, and they ate the food. Then they left, but some of them remained with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and stayed long. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ got up and went out, and I went out with him so that they might leave. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ walked and I walked with him until he came to the threshold of Aisha's room. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ looked at them: had they left? He returned and I returned with him until he entered upon Zaynab, and behold, they had left. Then a screen was struck between me and them, and the verse of hijab was revealed.'
