✧ A man was reviling Abu Bakr in the presence of the Prophet ﷺ, while Abu Bakr remained silent. When the man stopped, Abu Bakr responded with a word, so the Prophet ﷺ got up, and Abu Bakr followed him. He said, “O Messenger of God, he reviled me while you were sitting, and when I responded—or defended myself, or something like that—you stood up?” He said, “There was an angel responding on your behalf, saying, ‘You lie.’ But when you spoke, Satan took your place, and I disliked sitting.” Three things, O Abu Bakr, all of them true: no servant is wronged by an injustice and overlooks it seeking the Face of God, except that God grants him victory by it. No servant opens a door of giving, seeking the Face of God or kinship, except that God increases him in abundance by it. And no servant opens a door of asking, seeking abundance by it, except that God increases him in scarcity by it.
