حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي غَسَّانَ الْفَرَائِضِيُّ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي أَبُو غَسَّانَ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عِيَاضِ بْنِ أَبِي طَيْبَةَ، ثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ حَسَّانَ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ بِلَالٍ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ:
كُنْتُ أَخْدُمُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ، فَقَدَّمَ فَرْخًا مَشْوِيًّا، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: اللَّهُمَّ ائْتِنِي بِأَحَبِّ الْخَلْقِ إِلَيْكَ وَإِلَيَّ يَأْكُلُ مَعِي مِنْ هَذَا الْفَرْخِ، فَجَاءَ عَلِيٌّ، فَدَقَّ الْبَابَ، فَقَالَ أَنَسٌ: مَنْ هَذَا ؟ قَالَ: عَلِيٌّ، فَقُلْتُ: النَّبِيُّ ﷺ عَلَى حَاجَةٍ، فَانْصَرَفَ، ثُمَّ تَنَحَّى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ، وَأَكَلَ، ثُمَّ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: " اللَّهُمَّ ائْتِنِي بِأَحَبِّ الْخَلْقِ إِلَيْكَ وَإِلَيَّ يَأْكُلُ مَعِي مِنْ هَذَا الْفَرْخِ " فَجَاءَ عَلِيٌّ، فَدَقَّ الْبَابَ دَقًّا شَدِيدًا، فَسَمِعَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ، فَقَالَ: " يَا أَنَسُ، مَنْ هَذَا ؟ " قُلْتُ: عَلِيٌّ، قَالَ: " أَدْخِلْهُ "، فَدَخَلَ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: " لَقَدْ سَأَلْتُ اللهَ ثَلَاثًا بِأَنْ يَأْتِيَنِي بِأَحَبِّ الْخَلْقِ إِلَيْهِ وَإِلَيَّ يَأْكُلُ مَعِي مِنْ هَذَا الْفَرْخِ "، فَقَالَ عَلِيٌّ: وَأَنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ لَقَدْ جِئْتُ ثَلَاثًا، كُلُّ ذَلِكَ يَرُدُّنِي أَنَسٌ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: " يَا أَنَسُ، مَا حَمَلَكَ عَلَى مَا صَنَعْتَ ؟ " قُلْتُ: أَحْبَبْتُ أَنْ تُدْرِكَ الدَّعْوَةُ رَجُلًا مِنْ قَوْمِي، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: " لَا يُلَامُ الرَّجُلُ عَلَى حُبِّ قَوْمِهِ ".

✧ I was serving the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when a roasted chick was presented. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “O Allah, bring me the most beloved of Your creation to You and to me to eat with me from this chick.” ʿAli came and knocked on the door. Anas said: “Who is this?” He said: “ʿAli.” I said: “The Prophet ﷺ is occupied,” so he left. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ moved aside and ate. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “O Allah, bring me the most beloved of Your creation to You and to me to eat with me from this chick.” ʿAli came and knocked on the door with a strong knock. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ heard it and said: “O Anas, who is this?” I said: “ʿAli.” He said: “Let him in.” He entered, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “I asked Allah three times to bring me the most beloved of His creation to Him and to me to eat with me from this chick.” ʿAli said: “And I, O Messenger of Allah, came three times, and each time Anas turned me away.” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “O Anas, what made you do what you did?” I said: “I wanted the supplication to reach a man from my people.” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “A man is not blamed for loving his people.”
