حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ أَبِي خَيْثَمَةَ قَالَ: نَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ خَلَفٍ الْعَطَّارُ قَالَ: نَا مُوسَى بْنُ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْجَعْفَرِيُّ قَالَ: ثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عُمَرَ قَالَ:
لَمَّا قُبِضَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ جِئْتُ أَنَا وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ إِلَى عَلِيٍّ، فَقُلْنَا: مَا تَقُولُ فِيمَا تَرَكَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ ؟ قَالَ: " نَحْنُ أَحَقُّ النَّاسِ بِرَسُولِ اللهِ وَبِمَا تَرَكَ " قَالَ: فَقُلْتُ: وَالَّذِي بِخَيْبَرَ ؟ قَالَ: " وَالَّذِي بِخَيْبَرَ ". قُلْتُ: وَالَّذِي بِفَدَكَ ؟ فَقَالَ: وَالَّذِي بِفَدَكَ. فَقُلْتُ: " أَمَا وَاللهِ حَتَّى تَحُزُّوا رِقَابَنَا بِالْمَنَاشِيرِ، فَلَا

✧ When the Messenger of God ﷺ passed away, Abu Bakr and I went to Ali and said: "What do you say about what the Messenger of God ﷺ left behind?" He said: "We are the most entitled of the people to the Messenger of God and to what he left." I said: "And what is in Khaybar?" He said: "And what is in Khaybar." I said: "And what is in Fadak?" He said: "And what is in Fadak." I said: "By God, not until you cut our necks with saws, then no."
