✧ The Prophet ﷺ once sent a man to one of the Pharaohs of the Arabs, saying: Invite him to me. The man said: O Messenger of Allah, he is too arrogant for that. He said: Go to him and invite him. So he went to him and said: The Messenger of Allah invites you. He replied: Messenger of Allah! And what is Allah? Is He of gold, or of silver, or of copper? He returned to the Prophet ﷺ and informed him, saying: I told you, O Messenger of Allah, that he is too arrogant for that. He said: “Return to him and invite him.” So he went back and repeated the same words, and the man gave the same answer as before. He returned to the Prophet ﷺ and informed him. He said: “Return to him and invite him.” So he went back a third time. While they were exchanging words, Allah, Mighty and Majestic, sent a cloud over his head, and it thundered and lightning flashed, and a thunderbolt fell from it and carried away the top of his skull. Then Allah, Mighty and Majestic, revealed: “He sends thunderbolts and strikes with them whom He wills, while they dispute about Allah, and He is severe in assault.”
