✧ While I was sitting with the Messenger of God ﷺ, a man came to him and said: 'O Messenger of God, I am ruined.' He said: 'Woe to you, what is the matter?' He said: 'I had intercourse with my wife while fasting in Ramadan.' He said: 'Can you find a slave to free?' He said: 'No, by God, O Messenger of God.' He said: 'Are you able to fast two consecutive months?' He said: 'No, by God, O Messenger of God.' He said: 'Can you find food to feed sixty poor people?' He said: 'No, O Messenger of God.' Then he turned away from him. While they were in that state, a basket of dates was brought to the Prophet ﷺ. He said: 'Where is the one who came?' He was called for, and he said to him: 'Take this and give it in charity.' The man said: 'To someone poorer than my family, O Messenger of God? By God, there is no household between its two lava fields poorer than us.' The Prophet ﷺ laughed until his canine teeth showed, then said: 'Take it and feed it to your family.'
