وَعَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ، أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ عَبَّاسٍ، حَدَّثَهُ، أَنَّ الصَّعْبَ بْنَ جَثَّامَةَ بْنِ قَيْسٍ حَدَّثَهُ

أَنَّهُ أَهْدَى لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ حِمَارًا وَحْشِيًّا، وَهُوَ بِوَدَّانَ أَوْ بِالْأَبْوَاءِ، فَرَدَّهُ عَلَيْهِ قَالَ: فَعَرَفَ فِي وَجْهِي كَآبَةَ رَدِّهِ عَلَيَّ، فَقَالَ: لَيْسَ بِنَا رَدُّهُ عَلَيْكَ، وَلَكِنَّا حُرُمٌ

Translation

✧ He gifted the Messenger of God ﷺ a wild donkey while he was at Waddan or al-Abwa', and he returned it to him. He said: Then he recognized in my face the sadness of his returning it to me, and he said: 'It is not that we are returning it to you, but we are in a state of iḥrām.'
