✧ Umar said: 'Which of you will narrate to us a hadith he heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about tribulation?' Hudhayfah said: 'I will narrate to you as he said.' Umar said: 'You are bold about it, so narrate.' Hudhayfah said: 'The tribulation of a man in his family, his wealth, his child, and his neighbor is expiated by prayer, fasting, enjoining good, and forbidding evil.' Umar said: 'I am not asking you about that. I ask you about the one that surges like the waves of the sea.' Hudhayfah said: 'There is no harm upon you from it, O Commander of the Believers. Between you and it is a closed door.' Umar said: 'Will it be opened or broken?' Hudhayfah said: 'It will be broken.' Umar said: 'Then it will not be closed until the Day of Resurrection.'
