حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ، قَالَ: نَا عُمَرُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ قَالَ: نَا أَبِي عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ صُهْبَانَ عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ قَالَ:

كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَصُومُ حَتَّى نَقُولَ: لَا يُفْطِرُ، وَيُفْطِرُ حَتَّى نَقُولَ: لَا يَصُومُ، وَكَانَ أَكْثَرُ صَوْمِهِ فِي شَعْبَانَ

Translation

✧ The Prophet ﷺ used to fast until we would say, 'He will not break his fast,' and he would break his fast until we would say, 'He will not fast.' And most of his fasting was in Sha'ban.
