✧ The she-camel of the Messenger of God ﷺ, al-Jad'a', was stolen. The Messenger of God ﷺ said: “If God returns her to me, I will surely thank my Lord, Mighty and Majestic.” She ended up among a tribe of the Arabs in which there was a Muslim woman. Whenever the camels went out to pasture, she went out alone, and whenever the camels knelt down, she knelt alone, placing her chest on the ground. God put it into her mind to flee on her. She saw the people were heedless, so she mounted her, then urged her on, and she reached Madinah in the morning. When the Muslims saw her, they rejoiced and walked beside her until they came to the Messenger of God ﷺ. When the Messenger of God ﷺ saw her, he said: “Praise be to God.” The woman said: “O Messenger of God, I vowed that if God saved me on her, I would slaughter her and feed her meat to the poor.” He said: “What a bad reward you have given her! There is no vow for you except with what you own.” Then they waited to see if the Messenger of God ﷺ would initiate a fast or a prayer, and they thought he had forgotten. So they said: “O Messenger of God, you had said: ‘If God, Mighty and Majestic, returns her to me, I will surely thank my Lord, Mighty and Majestic.’” He said: “Did I not say: ‘Praise be to God’?”
