"أَنزَلَ اللهُ عليَّ أَمَانين لأُمَّتِى: "وَمَا كَانَ اللهُ لِيُعَذِّبَهُمْ وَأَنْتَ فِيهِمْ، وَمَا كَانَ اللهُ مُعَذِّبَهُمْ وَهُمْ يَسْتَغْفِرُون"، فإِذا قَضَيتُ تَرَكْتُ فِيهِمْ الاسْتِغْفَارَ إِلى يوم القيامة".
Translation
from his father, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Allah sent down two guarantees of safety for the benefit of my Ummah: And Allah would not punish them while you are among them, nor will He punish them while they seek forgiveness (8:33). So when I pass, I leave seeking forgiveness among them until the Day of Resurrection." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 3082)
