He said: A man had a date palm (ʿiziq) in the orchard of a man from the Anṣār, and the location of his palm was a hardship on the orchard's owner. So he came to the Messenger of God ﷺ and said: "O Messenger of God, so-and-so has a palm in my orchard, and he has harmed me, and the location of his palm is a hardship on me." The Messenger of God ﷺ sent for him and said: "Sell me your palm that is in the orchard of so-and-so." He said: No. He said: "Then give it to me as a gift." He said: No. He said: "Then sell it to me for a palm in Paradise." He said: No. So the Messenger of God ﷺ said: "I have not seen anyone more miserly than you, except the one who is miserly with the greeting of peace." And in the narration of Abū ʿAbdillāh: that a man came to the Messenger of God ﷺ and said: "Indeed, so-and-so...", and he mentioned it.
