“Allah has cursed women who tattoo and women who have themselves tattooed, women who pluck facial hair and women who have it plucked, and women who file their teeth for beauty, altering Allah’s creation.” He said: This reached a woman from Banu Asad called Umm Yaqub, who used to read the Quran. She came to him and said, “What is this report that has reached me about you—that you cursed women who tattoo and women who have themselves tattooed, women who have facial hair plucked, and women who file their teeth for beauty, altering Allah’s creation?” Abdullah replied, “Why should I not curse those whom the Messenger of Allah ﷺ cursed when it is in the Book of Allah?” The woman said, “I have read everything between the two covers of the mushaf, but I did not find it.” He replied, “If you had truly read it, you would have found it. Allah ﷻ says: ‘Whatever the Messenger gives you, take it; and whatever he forbids you, refrain from it’” ([Al-Hashr 59:7](https://quran.islamunlocked.com/quran:59:7)). The woman said, “I see something of this on your wife now.” He said, “Go and look.” She entered upon Abdullah’s wife but saw nothing. She returned to him and said, “I did not see anything.” He replied, “Had that been the case, we would not have had marital relations with her.”
