✧ "It has reached me that you say the curse upon the tattooed woman, the one who tattoos, the one who plucks facial hair, and the one who alters the creation of Allah. I have read what is between the two tablets, but I did not find what you say." He said, "Yes, I found it. However, you do not know." She asked, "Where is it?" He replied, "Have you not read, 'Whatever the Messenger gives you, take it, and whatever he forbids you, abstain from it'?" She said, "Yes." He said, "That is it." She said, "Indeed, I see some of that on your family." He said, "Enter and look." So she entered and looked but she did not see anything. Abdullah said to her, "Did you see anything?" She replied, "No." Abdullah said, "If you had seen anything from that, would you have followed me?"

machine translationHe was also asked about the hadith of Abū Wāʾil, from ʿAbdullāh. He said: Dāwūd b. Rashīd narrated it from Abū Ḥafṣ al-Abbār, from Manṣūr, from Abū Wāʾil, from ʿAbdullāh. This is an error; the correct version is from Manṣūr, from Ibrāhīm, from ʿAlqamah, from ʿAbdullāh.

machine translationHe was asked about the hadith of ʿAlqamah, from ʿAbdullāh, from the Prophet ﷺ: "May Allah curse the women who tattoo." He said: Al-Aʿmash and Manṣūr narrate it from Ibrāhīm, from ʿAlqamah, from ʿAbdullāh. Jarīr b. Ḥāzim narrated it from al-Aʿmash with a connected chain, and Jaʿfar b. Muḥammad b. al-Faḍl al-Rāsibī corroborated him, from al-Firyābī, from al-Thawrī, from al-Aʿmash. Others narrate it from al-Aʿmash, from Ibrāhīm, from ʿAbdullāh. As for Manṣūr, there is no disagreement about him: he narrated it from Ibrāhīm, from ʿAlqamah, from ʿAbdullāh. Ibrāhīm b. Muhājir differed from him and narrated it from Ibrāhīm, from Umm Yaʿqūb al-Asadiyyah, from ʿAbdullāh. The correct version is what Manṣūr said.
