What scholars said about it

In their own words, as Hadith Unlocked records them. They are shown, not summarised into a grade.

  • Abū Ḥatim al-Rāzī

machine translationWuhayb narrated it from Dāwūd, from al-Shaʿbī, from a man, from ʿAbdullāh b. ʿAmr, from the Prophet ﷺ. I said: Which of them is more sound? He said: These are better memorizers; I rule in their favour over Dāwūd.

    in سنن النسائي, p. 5010
  • Dāraquṭnī

machine translationIsmāʿīl b. Abī Khālid narrates it, and there is disagreement about him. Muḥammad b. Jarīr narrated it from Ismāʿīl b. Abī Khālid, from Qays b. Abī Ḥāzim, from Ibn ʿUmar, and he erred in its chain of transmission in two places: in his saying "from Qays" and in his saying "from Ibn ʿUmar". The sound version is from Ismāʿīl, from al-Shaʿbī, from ʿAbdullāh b. ʿAmr b. al-ʿĀṣ. Shuʿbah and others likewise narrated it from Ismāʿīl.

    in سنن النسائي, p. 5010
