machine translationAl-Ḥakam b. ʿUtaybah narrates it, and there is disagreement about him. Shuʿbah narrated it from al-Ḥakam, from ʿUrwah b. al-Nazzāl or al-Nazzāl b. ʿUrwah, from Muʿādh. Ghundar and Ḥajjāj said, from Shuʿbah, from al-Ḥakam, who said: "Maymūn b. Abī Shabīb also narrated it to me, from Muʿādh." Likewise al-Aʿmash and Fiṭr b. Khalīfah narrated it from al-Ḥakam, from Maymūn b. Abī Shabīb, from Muʿādh. Likewise Shaybān and Abū al-Aḥwaṣ said, from Manṣūr, from al-Ḥakam. Zubayd narrated it from al-Ḥakam as a mursal report from Muʿādh b. Jabal. There is disagreement about al-Aʿmash: ʿUbaydah b. Ḥumayd narrated it from al-Aʿmash, from al-Ḥakam alone, from Maymūn, from Muʿādh. ʿAbdullāh b. Idrīs and Abū Isḥāq al-Fazārī disagreed with him, and narrated it from al-Aʿmash, from Ḥabīb b. Abī Thābit, from Maymūn b. Abī Shabīb. Jarīr b. ʿAbd al-Ḥamīd narrated it from al-Aʿmash, from al-Ḥakam and Ḥabīb, from Maymūn, from Muʿādh. So both accounts from al-Aʿmash are sound. Likewise Fiṭr b. Khalīfah narrated it from al-Ḥakam and also Ḥabīb. Manṣūr also narrated it, and there is disagreement about him: Shaybān said, from Manṣūr, from al-Ḥakam, from Maymūn b. Abī Shabīb, from Muʿādh; Abū al-Aḥwaṣ said, from Manṣūr, from Ḥabīb b. Abī Thābit; and it is also said, from Shaybān, from Manṣūr, from Ḥabīb b. Abī Thābit. Likewise Ḥammād b. Shuʿayb narrated it from Ḥabīb b. Abī Thābit, from Maymūn, from Muʿādh. It is sound as a hadith of al-Ḥakam and Ḥabīb, from Maymūn.
