أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ عَنْ يَعْلَى بْنِ مَمْلَكٍ
أَنَّهُ سَأَلَ أُمَّ سَلَمَةَ زَوْجَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ عَنْ قِرَاءَةِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَصَلَاتِهِ قَالَتْ «مَا لَكُمْ وَصَلَاتِهِ كَانَ يُصَلِّي ثُمَّ يَنَامُ قَدْرَ مَا صَلَّى ثُمَّ يُصَلِّي قَدْرَ مَا نَامَ ثُمَّ يَنَامُ بِقَدْرِ مَا صَلَّى حَتَّى يُصْبِحَ ثُمَّ نَعَتَتْ لَهُ قِرَاءَتَهُ فَإِذَا هِيَ تَنْعَتُ قِرَاءَةً مُفَسَّرَةً حَرْفًا حَرْفًا» قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ يَعْلَى بْنُ مَمْلَكٍ لَيْسَ بِذَاكَ الْمَشْهُورِ

✧ He asked Umm Salama, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ, about the recitation and prayer of the Messenger of God ﷺ. She said: “What do you have to do with his prayer? He used to pray, then sleep for as long as he had prayed, then pray for as long as he had slept, then sleep for as long as he had prayed, until morning. Then she described his recitation, and it was a clear recitation, letter by letter.” Abu Abd al-Rahman said: Yala b. Mamlak is not that well-known.
