أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رَافِعٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ آدَمَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ آدَمَ عَنْ إِسْرَائِيلَ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنِ الْبَرَاءِ قَالَ
سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ لِرَجُلٍ يَا فُلَانُ إِذَا أَخَذْتَ مَضْجَعَكَ فَقُلِ اللهُمَّ أَسْلَمْتُ نَفْسِي إِلَيْكَ وَوَجَّهْتُ وَجْهِي إِلَيْكَ وَفَوَّضْتُ أَمْرِي إِلَيْكَ وَأَلْجَأْتُ ظَهْرِي إِلَيْكَ رَهْبَةً وَرَغْبَةً إِلَيْكَ آمَنْتُ بِكِتَابِكَ الَّذِي أَنْزَلْتَ وَبِنَبِيِّكَ الَّذِي أَرْسَلْتَ فَإِنْ حَدَثَ بِكَ حَدَثٌ مِنْ لَيْلَتِكَ فَمُتَّ مُتَّ وَأَنْتَ عَلَى الْفِطْرَةِ وَإِنْ أَصْبَحْتَ أَصْبَحْتَ وَقَدْ أَصَبْتَ خَيْرًا قَالَ وَكَانَ أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ يَزِيدُ فِيهِ «لَا مَلْجَأَ وَلَا مَنْجَى مِنْكَ إِلَّا إِلَيْكَ» وَيَقُولُ لَمْ أَسْمَعْ هَذَا مِنَ الْبَرَاءِ سَمِعْتُهُمْ يَذْكُرُونَهُ عَنْهُ «لَا مَلْجَأَ وَلَا مَنْجَى»

✧ I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say to a man: "O so-and-so, when you take to your bed, say: O Allah, I have submitted my soul to You, turned my face toward You, entrusted my affair to You, and leaned my back upon You, out of fear and desire of You. I believe in Your Book which You revealed and in Your Prophet whom You sent. If any event befalls you that night and you die, you die upon the fitrah, and if you wake up, you wake up having attained good." He (the narrator) said: Abu Ishaq used to add in it: "There is no shelter or refuge from You except to You," and he would say: "I did not hear this from al-Bara'; I heard them mentioning it from him: 'There is no shelter or refuge.'"
