أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَرَمِيُّ بْنُ حَفْصٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي زِيَادٍ عَنْ ثَابِتٍ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ اجْتَمَعَتِ الْأَنْصَارُ فَقَالَ
انْطَلِقُوا بِنَا إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَنَسْأَلُهُ أَنْ يَجْعَلَ مَاءَنَا سَيْحًا فَقَدِ اشْتَدَّ عَلَيْنَا النَّوَاضِحُ وَإِنَّا لَمْ نَسْأَلْهُ شَيْئًا إِلَّا أَعْطَانَا وَلَنْ يَسْأَلَ رَبَّهُ شَيْئًا إِلَّا أَعْطَاهُ فَأَتَوْا رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَخَرَجَ عَلَيْهِمْ فَقَالَ «مَرْحَبًا بِالْأَنْصَارِ يَقُولُهَا ثَلَاثًا لَا تَسْأَلُونِي الْيَوْمَ شَيْئًا إِلَّا أَعْطَيْتُكُمْ وَلَا أَسْأَلُ رَبِّي إِلَّا أَعْطَانِيهِ» فَتَرَكُوا مَسْأَلَتَهُمُ الَّتِي جَاؤوا فِيهَا فَقَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ادْعُ اللهَ لَنَا بِالْمَغْفِرَةِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «اللهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِلْأَنْصَارِ وَلِأَبْنَاءِ الْأَنْصَارِ وَلِأَبْنَاءِ أَبْنَاءِ الْأَنْصَارِ»

✧ Let us go to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and ask him to make our water flow continuously, for the water-drawing animals have become difficult for us, and we have never asked him for anything except that he gave us, and he will never ask his Lord for anything except that He gives him. So they came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he came out to them and said: "Welcome to the Ansar," saying it three times. "You will not ask me for anything today except that I give it to you, and I will not ask my Lord for anything except that He gives it to me." So they abandoned the request they had come for and said: O Messenger of Allah, supplicate to Allah for us for forgiveness. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "O Allah, forgive the Ansar, the children of the Ansar, and the children of the children of the Ansar."
