✧ Shortening the Prayer During Travel and What Came About Combining Two Prayers

وَقَالَ مُسَدَّدٌ: حَدَّثَنَا مَرْوَانُ بْنُ مُعَاوِيَةَ، عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ الْعُقَيْلِيِّ، عَنِ الضَّحَّاكِ بْنِ مُزَاحِمٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ؓ قَالَ:

مَنْ صَلَّى فِي السَّفَرِ أَرْبَعًا كَانَ كَمَنْ صَلَّى فِي الْحَضَرِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ

Translation

  5. Ibn ʿAbbās

✧ Whoever prays four [rak'ahs] while traveling is like one who prays two [rak'ahs] while resident.
