حَدَّثَنَا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ دُكَيْنٍ حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ مِغْوَلٍ عَنْ أَبِي حَنْظَلَةَ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ عَنْ صَلَاةِ السَّفَرِ؟ فَقَالَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ قَالَ
سَأَلْتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ عَنْ صَلَاةِ السَّفَرِ فَقَالَ: رَكْعَتَيْنِ. قَالَ: قُلْتُ: فَأَيْنَ قَوْلُ اللهِ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى فَإِنْ خِفْتُمْ وَنَحْنُ آمِنُونَ ؟ قَالَ: سُنَّةُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ، أَوْ قَالَ: كَذَاكَ سُنَّةُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ

✧ I asked Ibn Umar about the prayer during travel, and he said: 'Two rak'ahs.' He said: I said: 'Then where is the saying of Allah, Blessed and Exalted, "if you fear" while we are safe?' He said: 'The sunnah of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ,' or he said: 'Thus is the sunnah of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.'
