al-Matalib al-'Aliyah 828

✧ The virtue of Friday and the hour in which the supplication is hoped to be answered

وَحَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى الْحِمْيَرِيُّ، ثَنَا الضَّحَّاكُ بْنُ حُمْرَةَ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ خُمَيْرٍ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ؓ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ:

عُرِضَتْ عَلَيَّ الْأَيَّامُ، فَعُرِضَ عَلَيَّ مِنْهَا يَوْمُ الْجُمُعَةِ، فَإِذَا هِيَ كَالْمِرْآةِ الْحَسْنَاءِ وَإِذَا فِي وَسَطِهَا نُكْتَةٌ سَوْدَاءُ، فَقُلْتُ: مَا هَذَا السَّوَادُ ؟ قَالَ: هَذِهِ السَّاعَةُ

Translation

✧ The days were shown to me, and among them Friday was shown to me. It was like a beautiful mirror, and in its middle there was a black spot. I said: 'What is this blackness?' He said: 'This is the hour [in which supplication is answered].'
