✧ Gabriel ﷺ came to me with [the knowledge of] Friday, and it is like a white mirror in which there is something like a black spot. I said: 'O Gabriel, what is this?' He said: 'This is Friday.' I said: 'And what is Friday?' He said: 'You have in it good.' I said: 'And what do we have in it?' He said: 'It will be a festival ('id) for you and for your people after you, and the Jews and Christians will be subordinate to you.' I said: 'And what do we have in it?' He said: 'You have in it an hour in which no Muslim servant coincides with it asking Allah, Exalted is He, for anything of the affairs of this world or the Hereafter except that Allah will grant it to him—if he has a share [destined] in it; otherwise He will store for him with Himself what is better than it—if he has no share [destined]; or he seeks refuge in Him from an evil that is written for him except that He will avert from him a calamity greater than it.' I said: 'And why is that?' He said: 'Because your Lord, Blessed and Exalted, has taken in Paradise a valley of white musk. When the Day of Resurrection comes, He will descend from 'Illiyyun upon His Throne, then the Throne will be surrounded by pulpits of gold adorned with jewels, then the prophets will be brought and they will sit upon them, then the pulpits will be surrounded by chairs of light, then the martyrs will come until they sit upon them, and the people of the upper chambers (ahl al-ghuraf) will descend and sit upon the sandhill. Then their Lord will manifest Himself to them and will say: "Ask Me and I will give you." They will ask Him for His pleasure, and He will say: "My pleasure: I will make you dwell in My abode and grant you My honor, so ask Me and I will give you." They will ask Him for His pleasure, and He will bear witness to them that He is pleased with them. It was said: Then there will be opened for them what no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no human heart has imagined. He said: And that is the extent of your departure from Friday [prayer]. He said: Then the prophets, the truthful, and the martyrs will ascend with Him, and the people of the upper chambers will return to their chambers, which are of white pearl, or red ruby, or green chrysolite. From them are their chambers and their doors, with rivers flowing through them, their fruits lofty and hanging down. There is no grief or worry in them. He said: Thus they are not in greater need of anything than the Day of Friday, in order to increase in looking at their Lord and to increase in honor from Him.'
