✧ Indeed, I know the last of the people of Paradise to enter Paradise: a man who kept asking Allah, the Exalted, to keep him away from the Fire, until when the people of Paradise had entered Paradise and the people of the Fire had entered the Fire, he remained between that. He said, 'O Lord, bring me near to the gate of Paradise.' It was said, 'O son of Adam, did you not ask to be kept away from the Fire?' He said, 'O Lord, who is like You? Bring me near to the gate of Paradise.' So he was brought near to it, and he looked at a tree near the gate of Paradise and said, 'O Lord, bring me near to it so that I may shade myself with its shade and eat of its fruit.' He, Majestic and Exalted, said, 'O son of Adam, did you not say [such-and-such]?' He said, 'O Lord, who is like You? Then bring me near to it.' Then he saw something better than that and said, 'O Lord, bring me near to it.' He, majestic is His majesty, said, 'O son of Adam, did you not say [such-and-such]?' He said, 'O Lord, who is like You? Then bring me near.' It was said to him, 'Run, and you shall have whatever your feet reach and your eyes see.' He said, 'So he ran until he became exhausted' – meaning he became tired – and said, 'O Lord, is this mine and this?' He will say, 'You shall have the like of it and multiples of it.' He will say, 'My Lord is pleased with me. If He permitted me to clothe the people of Paradise and feed them, I would do so generously.'
