✧ I set out with Zurʿah b. Ḍamrah and al-Ashʿarī to ʿUmar b. al-Khaṭṭāb. I met ʿAbdallāh b. ʿAmr, who said: "Soon none of the Arabs will remain in the land of the non-Arabs except one killed or a captive whose blood is judged." Zurʿah said to him: "Will the polytheists prevail over the people of Islam?" He said: "Who are you from?" He said: "From Banū ʿĀmir b. Ṣaʿṣaʿah." He said: "The Hour will not come until the shoulders of the women of Banū ʿĀmir b. Ṣaʿṣaʿah press together around Dhū al-Khalaṣah—an idol that was one of the idols of the pre-Islamic era." He said: "We mentioned the statement of ʿAbdallāh b. ʿAmr to ʿUmar, and he said: 'ʿAbdallāh knows best what he says'—three times. Then ʿUmar gave a sermon on Friday and said: 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "A group of my community will continue to be upon the truth, supported, until the command of Allah comes."'" He said: "We mentioned the statement of ʿUmar b. al-Khaṭṭāb to ʿAbdallāh b. ʿAmr, and ʿAbdallāh b. ʿAmr said: 'The Prophet of Allah ﷺ spoke the truth. When the command of Allah, Mighty and Majestic, comes, it will be as you said.'"
