✧ I will surely know how long the Messenger of Allah ﷺ will remain among us. He said: 'O Messenger of Allah, if only you would take something to sit on that would protect you from the dust and keep the adversary away from you.' He ﷺ said: 'By Allah, I will surely leave them disputing with me over my cloak, stepping on my heels, and their dust covering me, until Allah the Exalted is the one who gives me rest from them.' He said: So I knew that his remaining among us was little. He said: When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ died, Umar said: 'By Allah, I hope that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ will live until he cuts off the hands and tongues of men among the hypocrites who say: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ has died.' Al-Abbas said: 'O people, does anyone among you have a covenant or contract from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?' They said: 'No.' He said: 'Indeed the Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not die until he had cut the ropes and joined, fought and made peace, married women and divorced, and left you upon a clear path and a well-marked road. If it is as Umar says, Allah the Exalted is not incapable of uncovering him and bringing him out to us. So leave us alone with him, let us bury him, for he decomposes as people decompose.'
