✧ I entered upon Jabir b. Abdullah ؓ and found him sitting while leading his companions in the afternoon prayer, and they were sitting. He said: I watched until he said the salam, then I said: May Allah forgive you, you are a companion of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and you lead them in prayer while sitting? He said: I am ill, so I sat and ordered them to sit. I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: 'The imam is a shield; if he prays standing, then pray standing, and if he prays sitting, then pray sitting.'
