وَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْأَحْوَصِ، عَنْ سِمَاكٍ، عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ عَرْعَرَةَ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ ؓ، قَالَ:
لَمَّا أَرَادُوا أَنْ يَرْفَعُوا الْحَجَرَ، يَعْنِي: قُرَيْشًا، اخْتَصَمُوا فِيهِ، فَقَالُوا: نَحْنُ نُحَكِّمُ بَيْنَنَا أَوَّلَ رَجُلٍ يَخْرُجُ مِنْ هَذِهِ السِّكَّةِ، قَالَ: فَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَوَّلَ مَنْ خَرَجَ عَلَيْهِمْ، فَجَعَلُوهُ فِي مِرْطٍ، ثُمَّ رَفَعَهُ جَمِيعُ الْقَبَائِلِ كُلِّهَا، وَرَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَوْمَئِذٍ رَجُلٌ شَابٌّ، يَعْنِي: قَبْلَ الْبَعْثَةِ
Translation

✧ When they wanted to raise the Stone—meaning Quraysh—they disputed over it and said, 'We will let the first man to come out of this street judge between us.' He said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was the first to come out to them. They put it on a cloak, and then all the tribes together lifted it. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was at that time a young man, meaning before the mission.
