وَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ: حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ، عَنْ مَرْثَدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ، عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْجُهَنِيِّ ؓ، قَالَ:

بَيْنَا نَحْنُ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ إِذْ طَلَعَ رَاكِبَانِ، فَلَمَّا رَآهُمَا قَالَ: كِنْدِيَّانِ مَذْحِجِيَّانِ، حَتَّى أَتَيَا فَإِذَا رَجُلَانِ مِنْ مَذْحِجٍ، قَالَ: فَدَنَا أَحَدُهُمَا إِلَيْهِ لِيُبَايِعَهُ، فَلَمَّا أَخَذَ بِيَدِهِ قَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، أَرَأَيْتَ مَنْ آمَنَ بِكَ وَصَدَّقَكَ وَاتَّبَعَكَ، فَمَاذَا لَهُ ؟ قَالَ: طُوبَى لَهُ، فَمَسَحَ عَلَى يَدِهِ فَانْصَرَفَ، ثُمَّ أَقْبَلَ الْآخَرُ حَتَّى أَخَذَ بِيَدِهِ لِيُبَايِعَهُ، فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، أَرَأَيْتَ مَنْ آمَنَ بِكَ وَصَدَّقَكَ وَاتَّبَعَكَ وَلَمْ يَرَكَ ؟ قَالَ: طُوبَى لَهُ، ثُمَّ مَسَحَ عَلَى يَدِهِ وَانْصَرَفَ

✧ While we were with the Messenger of God ﷺ, two riders appeared. When he saw them he said: Kindians, Madhhijians. Until they came and indeed they were two men from Madhhij. He said: One of them approached him to pledge allegiance. When he took his hand he said: O Messenger of God, what do you think of the one who believes in you, believes you, and follows you - what is for him? He said: Tuba for him. Then he wiped over his hand and left. Then the other came forward until he took his hand to pledge allegiance. He said: O Messenger of God, what do you think of the one who believes in you, believes you, and follows you but has not seen you? He said: Tuba for him. Then he wiped over his hand and left.
