✧ Usayd b. Hudayr ؓ invited me, and I cauterized his sciatic nerve. He told me two hadiths. He said: Two families of my people came to me: a family from Banu Zafar and a family from Banu Mu'awiyah. They said: Speak to the Messenger of God ﷺ for us, or something like that. So I spoke to him, and he ﷺ said: Yes, I will allocate to each family of them a half. If God - Mighty and Majestic - restores, we will restore to them. He said: I said: May God reward you well, O Messenger of God. He ﷺ said: And you, may God reward you well, for you are, as far as I know, chaste and patient. He said: And I heard the Messenger of God ﷺ say: You will encounter after me preferential treatment. When it was the time of Umar, he distributed garments among the people and sent me one of them. I found it too small, so I gave it to my son. While I was praying, a young man of Quraysh passed by me wearing a garment from those garments, dragging it. I remembered the saying of the Messenger of God ﷺ and said: The Messenger of God ﷺ spoke the truth. A man went to Umar and informed him. He came while I was praying and said: Pray, O Usayd. When I finished my prayer, he said: That garment I sent to so-and-so, and he is a Badri, Uhudi, Aqabi. This young man came to him and bought it from him and wore it. Did you think that would happen in my time? He said: I said: By God, O Commander of the Faithful, I did not think that would happen in your time.
