✧ He entered the mosque and came to a pillar, stood by it and prayed. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was in the mosque. The Prophet ﷺ said: Our leader is Ibn Mas'ud, while he could not hear him. He recited: Say, O disbelievers, then bowed and prostrated, then stood for the second rak'ah. The Prophet ﷺ said: Be sincere, O Ibn Mas'ud. He recited: Say, He is Allah, the One, then bowed, prostrated, and sat. The Prophet ﷺ said: Supplicate, O Ibn Mas'ud, and you will be answered; ask and you will be given. He ؓ, during that, could not hear him. Ibn Mas'ud ؓ said: O Allah, I ask You for the highest companion, the fullest share of the gardens of bliss, and I ask You for guidance, piety, chastity, and contentment, and glad tidings at the severance of this world. And I ask You for faith that does not turn back, coolness of eyes that never ends, joy that never ceases, success in praise, the garment of piety, the adornment of faith, and the companionship of Your Prophet Muhammad ﷺ in the highest garden of eternity. He said: A man went and gave him the good news.
